  • prevent save files to external device

    Here's an interesting one.

I've had a request to prevent the saving of files to external disk, in the instance where a user has read-only access to the source.
If they have read-write, it's ok for them to put it on another source.

I'm aware of GFI Endpoint, which would let me block external devices by default.
I could also use GPO to block removable devices completely (or based on group membership)

but that's cumbersome, when Fred for instance might have read-only access to "All Projects" share but rw to "Fred Projects" share (or folder, or whatever)

perhaps rights-management? EFS seems a bit cumbersome, in that each person would need to be given access to each file..
