  • DHCP Option Tags are not being applied...

    Hi,

About to loose my mind... basically we are working towards a small WYSE Thin Client deployment in our environment. The WYSE clients require to receive certain DHCP Option Tags to find the WCM server of which they receive their configuration from. Same applies to the WDM Server as well. The problem is no matter what we do, our test client is not receiving the custom option tags we've defined in our DHCP server.

    DHCP Servers:

    vlan41

    10.40.1.206

    10.40.1.207

    Test Client:

vlan46 - ip helpers defined on the switch

Set to receive the same ip address from the DHCP server through the reservation route.

    Option Tags:

    186 - WDM Server - 10.40.1.184

    195 - WCM Server - 10.40.1.185

    196 - WCM Path - /

I've installed Wire Shark on the test client to monitor the DHCP activity. The above custom options tags are not being pushed on to the client.

The Router, DNS Server and Domain Tags are being pushed. So it's working but also not working????!!!

Anybody with some insight to this problem?

did you restart the DHCP service after setting the tags? idk...

Does the client pick up the tags if you place it on the same subnet as the DHCP server?

The highlighted framein the Wireshark capture is the "DHCP Acknowledge" packet. Are the options present in either the DHCP Offer or DHCP request packets (frames 15642 and 15643 respectively).

If the options are missing in the DHCP Offer packet from the DHCP relay agent, is the same true for the DHCP Offer packet generated by the DHCP server? (Run Wireshark on the DHCP server to confirm this.)

Are you sure the ip helper address on the L3 switch points to the correct DHCP server?

wullieb1I've installed a a new DHCP server in the same subnet as the test client... same result.

            Ser Olmy
The options are not present in the offer or request packets.

I've installed wire shark on the DHCP server as well. Looking at the packets, it's clear that the DHCP is not offering these packets despite the fact the options are defined in the scope.

Have you tried configuring the options on the reservations?
