  • Regarding Setup active directory and DNS

    Hi,

i want to set up fresh installation of Active directory and dns in Windows 2008 R2 edition, i have already done this previously but my confusion is that how do i choose perfect FQDN for my active directory host. As i have already a secondary DNS mail server (linux) installed in my network with .com.
    Please help me for this.

    Regards

There is no "right" internal DNS name - some people use .local but IIRC that can cause problems with some Apple products. I tend to use .corp

Alternatively you can use "split DNS" and have the same internal and external DNS names

Microsoft's recommendation is to use an unused subdomain of your public domain name, such as AD.MYCOMPANY.COM, where MYCOMPANY.COM is your public domain name.
