    Dear all,
    when I am creating a user account in any windows operating system.I am getting below error message.
    account names can't contain the following characters. Invalid characters are " / \ [ ] : ; | = , + * ? >

    why the operating system not accepting the characters for a user account

    Because Microsoft decided a long time ago that these are not valid characters in a username.

    For instance, the "\" character is used to separate the domain from the user name in e.g. "CONTOSO\candy". The @ is used in a similar manner.

    This is a restriction you will have to live with in Windows - other OSes may be different.
