  • Move AD User Folder

I have new install of 2008 R2 and now realize the default AD user folder of c:\users needs to be moved to another drive because of anticipated storage limitations (move to d:\users). Can anyone help me with this this?

    Thank you-

This appears to be a solution for a new install. I'm trying to move the existing user folder on a recent install with only a few users currently setup. Thanks-

If you do a search you'll see some methods of making this change but Microsoft won't support it and I think it will break Windows patching. The best way to get a supported setup is to change the location at install.

        Other options, however, could be:
        - Use roaming profiles and have the server delete the local copy at logoff
        - Use TS profiles and direct them to another drive
        - Use folder redirection to keep user profiles small
