  • dns.exe over 700MB

I am not sure why, nor have I noticed it before but I did today.

DNS.exe is around 700MB. the larges I have seen is around 950MB.

This is on WS2008 R2 enterprise, all updates. It is an AD/DC and no other computers are joined to it - its just a standalone server.

Any ideas why this could be? There is 1 NIC but has 4 or 5 IP public IP Addresses.

    is this normal?

    Re: dns.exe over 700MB

DNS Exe on a very small LAN (<25 machines) and single NiC is 160Mb on the FSMO holder and 80Mb on the additional DC so your figure doesn't, on the face of it, seem unreasonable with multiple NiCs

Not something I have ever looked into before, though
