    Hi all,
I am preparing new File Server in our company. We have got about 6TB files right now. I have two new identical windows 2008R2 storage servers. We also have a multiple branche offices.

I think about DFSR technology but I am not sure about some details.

    1) if I place serveres to different sites, and user will acces file with \\domain\namespace\shared_folder he will access to server in his site?

    2) if two users open same file on another server. What happend if both would like to save his changes? how it will be resolved? Is there some file locking?
    Thanks

    Re: DFSr

    1) Unless you have changed priorities, local site replicas are preferred over remote sites

    2) Last saved will win -- unless they save them at exactly the same time (to the millisecond)

      Re: DFSr

Thank for reply. I am thinking about implementation.

      1) is better use one big partition or use more partitions.

      2) there i a lot of documents on which I would like to use versioning (so partitioning is necessary in this case)

      3) I would like to use QUOTAS for Home Disk shares (for this it is not necesary to have own partition I think)

      4) I would like to use File Screening for some folder (it is not necesary to have own partition I think)

Have you got some recomendations for this?

I would like to have control over content, easy scalability, managebility. I would like to see files that are offen accessed, file that are not accessed etc.. Basicaly I wana have perfect file server
      Thanks
