  • logon script and folder redirection issue

I am the new Admin in a firm, after the former one had left unexpectedly.
I am out of practice (haven't done IT since 2009).
There is a Server 2008 R2, with two disks set in HW mirror.
Last week the one of the Server's disk has failed, and the other one got a windows failure.
HP replaced both didks and the motherboard and I had to install the whole DC from scratch.
I have set up a login script in the GPO and I want to set up Folder Redirect to the users "My documents" to a share on the server.
    but....
    It doesn't work...
As far as i remember, when a user logs in, a folder should be created for him in the Server's "Users" folder. It doesn't happen.
Neither the login script is being executed when a user logs in.
Naturally, the Folder Redirect doesn't work.
I don't know where to begin looking for the solution.
    Can anyone help me here?
BTW, its Server 2008R2, workstations are Win7.

    Thanx - Ariel

Can you show us the script please?

The general syntax is NET USE HOME: \\server\users\%username%

I suspect a permissions problem on the Share. Have a look here for more info:

For the login script (to map drive P: and drive S: )I used:
        net use p: \\server\users\public
        net use s: \\server\Users\Public\Documents

For the folder redirect, I did it from the GPO console:
User Configuration-> Windows Settings -> Folder Redirections

Thanx, I will read it and check the permissions.

            OK, here is a recap:
The permissions are correct, and the most strange thing happens:
I created a completely new user, logged in a computer and the File Redirection Policy worked just fine.
I deleted an existing user from ADUC, created a new user with the same name (it should be a new object, right?) and it didn't get the File Redirection Policy.
I run RSOP.MSC and I get this error:
"Folder Redirection did not complete policy processing because the user needs to log on again for the settings to be applied. Group Policy will attempt to apply the settings at the user's next logon." (naturally I did a restart and logon but the error still occurred)
            Any suggestions?

Did you create a share on the server for the redirected profiles?

Also, are you mapping your P and S drives to the server's Public folders?

Yes and yes, but as I posted in the last one, with a new user everything works....so something is right, right?

Logged in as the user to which it doesnt work - can you manually browse to the redirected my docs folder and access it?

Re: logon script and folder redirection issue

For the users that aren't working, do their folders already exist? If so, are they the owner of the folder? IIRC, if they aren't the owner of the folder then folder redirection will fail.
                      Regards,

The folders does not exist for the users that failed running the policy.

OK, so create one, make sure permissions are OK and try again
