  • Unable to uninstall/install any aplication on a 2008 R2

    Hi all,

I have a SQL server on which we are not able to uninstall/install any application.
Windows installer justs freezes and does not move

We have restarted the Windows Installed service but no go

Reboot has to be planned so we could not reboot it

Nothing is seen in eventevr. I am thinking of trying to uninstall the application from command line

Any suggestions on what I can do next

    Thanks

I would start with the (planned) reboot

I think you should run procmon that could get you more info as to why it happens. When it freezes just get to procmon and filter for all occurrences of the installer. Find the last occurrence and see what it says and what's in the stack. Unlikely it will tell you "yes, do this and that" but can often give you a clue what happens when an application freezes. Then it's a combination of what you find in there and what Google has to say on that.
