  • Event ID 6 & 13 Certificate Errors

I have a mixture of Windows 2008 and Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers and I have minimally 2 domain controller (have not checked all of the others) that are reporting certificate error's in the event log. they are

    Event ID #13
Certificate enrollment for Local system failed to enroll for a DomainController certificate with request ID N/A from cmttrackit.mydomain.com\PASSWORDRESET (The RPC server is unavailable. 0x800706ba (WIN32: 1722)).

    Event ID #6
Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed (0x800706ba) The RPC server is unavailable.

The cmttrackit.mydomain.com is a server that nolonger exists in my active directory domain.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

    Was that server your CA?
    Was it a DC too?

cmttrackit.mydomain.com was not a domain controller and I am not sure if it was my CA

Can you have a check in the local computer store on your machines to see if you can find a root certificate with that name? If so it used to be a CA. Sounds like your clients are trying to renew certs and the no longer can.
Do you need a CA or have another one in the environment?
        cheers
