  • adding a 2008 host to a hyperv win2000 server domain

    Hello everyone.

is there a posibility to accomplish this task?

i have a windows 2008 server with a windows 2000 domain server in a virtual machine (hyperv) and i want to make the host 2008 to be a domain member of the windows 2000 domain.

i have read that it can be done, but dont know if in this case could.

Thanks in advanced for all your help.

So your HyperV host wants to be a member of a domain with the only DC on the server.
Sorry, but it will cause you major problems as the host will want to authenticate against a DC when it starts, but the DC won't start until the host is up

You really need a separate physical DC to be up first

technically, you CAN do it. But it's widely and strongly recommended not to, for countless reasons.

Apart from that, Server 2000 may not be a supported virtual guest..
