  • Microsoft banned cryptography key less than 1024

Microsoft is going to stop cryptography key less than 1024 bit. Can anyone know why Microsoft take this action?

As i know self sign certificate is no more useful after this update. Am i right?

Not surprised by this. Not sure why you would use a modulus less than 1024 anyway. Its the same as using DES for you encryption. Cisco unity vpn clients (remote access clients) don't even support it anymore, the same with Diffie Hellman group 1. They are old algorithms.
