  • remote domain would like to share resources both directions

hello all, we have a remote domain in Oregon, we can remote to the servers and appliances. But we would like to map drives and share resources and vis-versa. How do I go about doing that? I did some research and found info about a forest trust? is that all I need to setup to satisfy the needs?

You will need to set up two trusts as they are one way only

    A trusts B and also B trusts A

        Essentially yes

And why shouldn't it be easy

question, when you setup the dns entry on both sides it says to ping before I am assuming its the outside ip address and name? and once the dns entries are setup I should be able to ping the host names example our file server is atlfiles. The other side should be able to do that.

hmm so when it ask for the fqdn it should be the outside ip address of the domain? not the inside one and the inside name. example

inside name mydomain.priv ip 192.168.2.1 it should be
            mydomain.com ip 216.235.135.111

am I on the right track?

do you have a VPN between the two organisations?

Because if presently, all you do is RDP to a public IP address of a remote server, then file sharing and domain-level stuff won't work (by default) over the internet.

best option would be to configure a site-to-site vpn between the two networks.
