  • Netlogon Temp Drive

I just recently upgraded a site from WinXP and Win2003 Server to Win7 64bit and Windows 2008 R2 server.

We are currently working on the logon scripts.

Basically they work, but it looks like Netlogon wants to create a temporary drive so it can run the batch scripts. In the past (Win2003/XP) it would use Z or the last available drive.

It appears the Win7 machines are trying to use the first available drive so in our case I (mostly).

Anyway the site uses an application to block executable files and scripts from running on all drives except for the OS and it leaves the Z Y & X drives open for installing and scripting as needed. The goal is to generally block usb drives from running stuff.

Anyway is there a way to declare the drive Netlogon uses... like the last available drive or Z, as compared to the next available or I.

Thanks for any insight. Plus a big thanks to the forums as I have certainly benefited from this site over the years.
