  • Backup on a different machine

    Hi All,

I created a svc_backup user (member of the Backup Operator group) and a Backup folder on a client machine where the user has Full Control rights.

I created a backup tasks at a different time for each server. Why some of them don't start? Why one of them gives the following error?
This task requires that the user account specified has Log on as batch job rights
    Backup operator have this right.

    Thanks,

    Alberto

No worries, which policy did you add the user rights assignment to? Have you ran rsop to ensure that the machines are getting the policy applied correctly?

No, sorry. I don't even know what RSOP is. Are you talking about this?

          http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...10(WS.10).aspx

Why should this be applied manually, doesn't propagate in all the domain automatically.

          Thanks,

          Alberto

            Resultant Set Of Policy:

            http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...10(WS.10).aspx

Shows what settings are applied at the user or computer level.

This will help you weed out any errors or issues with your GPO's applying.

Should I check RSOP on the machine where the scheduled task cannot start or on the target backup machine.

It's strange because all these machine are fresh installed and nobody changed any settings.

How is it possible that a 'backup operator' user cannot run a task?

              Thanks,

              Alberto

Check it on the machine that can't run the scheduled task.
