  • Need your help with Registry over GPO

    Hi,

I have a GPO template which i would like to add registry key which disables IPV6 in all computers and servers in my network.

The registry key can be found in the link below:
    1. 1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip6\Parameters
    2. 2. create a DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it "DisabledComponents"
    3. 3. data value ffffffff in HEX or 4294967295 in Decimal

    Can be seen here:

How can I propagate this key to all computers and servers with GPO ?

    Thanks

You can roll out a registry key with Group Policy preferences

The best way to do it is to Open a open GPO editor from a computer that already has the desired registry settings.

      Go to:
      Computer Settings
      Windows Components
      Registry

Point to New and select New registry item.
In the Action part select what this policy will do exactly. (actions are: Create, Replace, Update, and Delete)

      Done that many times.

        Hi,

There is NO such menu in my Windows 7 GPO.
        I have only:

        Local Computer Policy
        -Software Settings
        -Windows Settings
        -Administrative Templates

        Thanks

You will need to edit a DOMAIN GPO on a DC

Re: Need your help with Registry over GPO

If you are doing it from a windows 7 machine you need to first install the Remote Server Administration Tools (so called RSAT). Then enable them ftom control panel-programs and features. After doing that go to admin tools, start the GPO mmc and connect to a domain controller.

Local Computer Policy sets policies on the computer you are connected to only.
