  • how to open AD domain services in 2008 on a member server

    Hi all,

    In windows 2003 on any member server on run if we type dsa.,msc and hit ok AD users and computers console comes up.

    In 2008/R2 member server where this role is not installed how can I open AD users and computers ....

    I did google it up but no luck...

    The ADUC Snap-in (dsa.msc) is not installed by default except on DCs and member Exchange 2003 Servers. You'll need to install RSAT, I believe the Win 7 version works on 2008 R2.

      You can go to features and install all the tools from the Remote Server Admin Tools node -- nothing to download
      Alternatively install the AD DS role but do not DCPromo it afterwards
