  • diskpart cannot see the large 16TB partition

I'm configuring a Dell R510 with a full load of SAS drives as a VEEAM backup server for my ESX cluster running Server 2008R2. I need to merge the two unallocated partitions, but diskpart cannot see the large 16TB partition. So, what's wrong with this picture? The only solution I can see is to rebuild the box...not the desired solution. The PING has a screenshot.

Have you considered converting to a dynamic disk?

Some vague memory about "2 Tb limits" comes to mind, but I cannot remember where it applies -- RAID controller or Windows

To be able to use larger than 2TB partitions you'll need to convert to GTP disks if supported.

Thanks for the input. I'll fire up diskpart and give that a look. That would also probably explain why the Windows installer hacked up the disk in such an odd way. I double checked the raid config on the PERC and there is definitely only one VHD on the controller.
