  • Win 2008 And RDP License

I'm setting up a Citrix farm using Win 2008 Server. As of now I have a Win 2003 Licensing server that hands out license for Terminal sessions. Can my Win 2008 servers use the Win 2003 Licensing server for user access? Do I need to upgrade my License to allow Win 2008 to use the Licenses?

No they cannot. A W2K8 TS server requires a W2K8 TS License Server. Youll also need W2K8 TS CAL's.

In addition to what Joeqwerty said you would need to setup the WS08 as the license server and you can manage lower level CALs from there.

        Thanks for the reply guys.

Ok so setup a Win 2008 License server and I can then have the 2008 sever handle the older licenses also?

Yes. A W2K8 TS license server can allocate CAL's for W2K and W2K3 TS servers.
