  • problem with router configuration help needed

Hi guys, I created completely isolated env to test router functionality of server role. On HYPPER-V 3 Virtual machine with all having windows 2008 r2.One of them is designated as a router and other two as a client. As you can imagine two client can not talk to each other but connected to router through separate interface.

    ROUTER
    IF1: 172.168.1.10
    IF2: 172.168.2.10

    HOST1:
    IF1: 172.168.1.1

    HOST2:
    IF1: 172.168.2.1

Initially i can ping 1.10 from 1.1 and 2.10 from 2.1 as expected but not
1.10 from 2.1 and 2.10 from 1.1 which is also expected.

How I setup RRAS and VIP version 2 for IPV4 to enable fwding and added both interface to RIP protocol. After setup I still can not ping a host from other host (ping 1.1 from 2.1 and vice versa .
I also tried disabling the firewall al along and no avail. Please help.

Re: problem with router configuration help needed

RIP is not needed in this environment. Simply having RRAS installed and the two interfaces configured should be enough.

What are the defined gateways of host1 and host2?
