  • Publish internet explorer 8 using App-V or RemoteApp

    Hello,

    Greetings!!

I have a scenario where I need to have IE6 and IE8 should be available to the users. I am planning to publish IE8. I am confused whether to use Windows Server 2008 remote-App or App-V.

Your suggestions are welcome. Also please share any links to implement this.

    Regards,
    Satheesh

I'm pretty sure IE is too closely integrated with the OS to be publishable with AppV -- remote app will work but you will need one server per version.

    See discussion here: http://blog.stealthpuppy.com/deploym...er-with-app-v/

I remember finding a 3rd party product ($$$) which did virtualise different IE versions, but can't find the link just now

I would do the other way around.
upgrade the browsers on the client computers and use something like ThinApp to virtualize IE6.

You might read a bit on it over here:

I agree with upgrading to IE8 - then perhaps use MED-V for IE6
