  • Event 1058 - Group Policy problem

    Hi,

    We are having a problem on a Server 2008 Standard with Service Pack 2. All client computers (all win7 pro) keep randomly losing access to network shares (all on the one server called "Server"), when they lose access the following error appears in the Server System event log;
    Event ID: 1058
    Source: Group Policy
    General Details: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\Domain\SysVol\Domain\Policies\{FE9D1BD7-0460-492A-9A91-93A0EF7D30AB}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
    b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.

    If we restart the Server all goes back to normal and clients can access shares again.

    Any thoughts or suggestions will be muchly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Simon

      Are all workstations in the same domain and subnet as the server?
