        Re: Installation error

and you have a second partition created and formatted as NTFS?

What stage of the boot-up are you getting to?

          Re: Installation error

Do you need the server for learning or testing?
If so and you have a good notebook try to go virtual (VMware Workstation)
I think you will run into driver issues as well if you want to proceed installing
          on your notebook.

He has Windows 7 installed, which suggests there are suitable drivers available.

                  Google...

                  http://www.vmware.com/products/workstation/

                  You can purchase it there.

You will need a copy of, and license for, the Windows version that you want to install on the virtual machine.

                    Re: Installation error

If you are running Windows 7 Ultimate then I would suggest installing XPMode and Virtual PC. Since you are wanting to run Server 2008 you could use the 32bit version. If however you want to run Server 2008 R2 then you will need the 64bit version of Windows 7 and VMWare.
