  • Fibre Channel SAN with Windows Server

    Hi,

I have a simple server with an 8Gbps Emulex adapter and a bunch of disks.
I want to turn this into a Fibre Channel SAN Target with Windows Storage Server 2008 R2.

I've opened Storage Explorer > Fibre Channel Fabrics, but nothing is listeded there.
    All drivers are installed.

I don't find any real help about doing this with Windows.

    Thanks in advance,
    Photubias

Re: Fibre Channel SAN with Windows Server

As I know you only can form iscsi targets out of storage server 2008 R2 with a special small tool (iSCSI_Software_Target_33), no fiber channel adapter targeting....

Re: Fibre Channel SAN with Windows Server

      Thanks for the answer.
It seems indeed that Windows Storage Server is purely iSCSI, no FC.
FC is only possible with third party tools and I don't even think there is a free one for Windows?

      Maybe you guys know more?

What is best performant software Fibre Channel Target software?

Nexenta & Sanmelody are my 2 options right now?
(Openfiler does not support emulex, neither does Open-E)

      Thanks
