  • New AD DC + DNS Issue

I have a brand new server running Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation. I want to setup this server to be first (and only) AD DC. My DNS currently comes from my Comcast SMC Internet Gateway and not sure how to configure this device and DNS on the new server. I have a static wan IP and using static lan ip's Please help.

Re: New AD DC + DNS Issue

You will have to add the DNS role when you DC Promo
Set LAN card to point to the servers IP for DNS (e.g. 192.168.0.1)
Set DNS forwarders to point to the comcast gateway (e.g. 192.168.0.254) and their public DNS servers

And switch to DHCP -- much easier to manage!
