  • KMS Client - Automated Activation

I'm currently in the testing phase of using KMS to centrally manage the activation of our Windows Systems on the network and seem to have run into a problem of sorts...

As far as i am aware, the point of KMS is for automated activation of clients, correct?

Then why is it that even after leaving it for several hours (of which the default is 2 hours) that none of my client machines want to activate automatically?

I have met the minimum threshold requirement (5 Windows Server 2008 R2 Servers), and they ARE communicating... as running the slmgr.vbs -dli command on the KMS host shows that the client count is now at 5.

However, unless i manually go to each client and run slmgr.vbs -ato, it doesnt want to activate.

Am i wrong in thinking that this should be automatic after a period of time, and that you would only use slmgr.vbs -ato on systems that need immediate activation (home use laptops for example)?
