  • Windows 2003 x86 certificate server (on Exchange server) in Windows 2008 x64 domain

    Hello,

we are planning to migrate our current domain controller Windows 2000 x86 server to Windows 2008 x64 (so far so good)

In our domain we have a Windows 2003 x86 Exchange server and is also our certificate server. Is it possible to migrate the domain controller and raise the domain level to Windows 2008 and still make use of our 2003 certificate server?

    Thanks for the reply!

As far as I know this is possible as the Forest Functional Level still would be 2k3,You may need to define your own templates.
Still it is suggested to migrate your CA to Windows 2008 as Windows 2008 has several new additions to the cryptography API, called Cryptography Next Generation, these are used in the V3 certificate templates for CAz and Webservers in Windows 2008..

      Thx for the reply Fazal,
