  • RO DC's + File Server

Is it possible to somehow make a RO DC also a file server?

I realize this sort of defeats the purpose of the RO DC. I want to install the RO DC at this remote site and will temporarily need to store about 200 GB of user data on a server until we upgrade our connection in the latter part of our 2008 R2 upgrade(s). Then the server will be just a RO DC.

    Thank you.

Actually this is the proper purpose of an RODC -- a single branch office server

    Absolutely no problems doing it.

      Hi,

You can add file server role safely to rodc. There are additional consideration as to how clients would be accessing these files. For more insight plz go through
