  • Network Policy Server on Windows 2008 R2 Server Core

Is it possible to install and run Network Policy Server (the service formerly known as RADIUS) on Windows 2008 R2 Server Core?

When I run get-widowsfeature , the following list of available roles and features does not show RADIUS, IAS, nor NPS, so I think not. But I have not found anything that explicitly states that RADIUS/IAS/NPS will not run on 2008 Server Core, so I can't confirm my educated guess.

It cannot be done yet, especially when it is not listed.
Probably for the same reason why TMG can't run on on Windows 208 core.

A while ago I asked on ISAserver.org if TMG can run on Windows 2008 core, since TMG has related dependencies as NPS has, I assume it would bring the same issues.

Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy.

I did finally find this statement

"The NPS role service is not available in Server Core editions"

in Microsoft's "NPS Migration Guide," which is the only explicit statement I've found from them.
