  • IIS FTP Hang at data connection.

Hi guys, I'm trying to migrate an FTP server from Windows 2003 SP2 to Windows 2008 R2 SP1.

My configuration looks find and I can connect to my new FTP server just find, but as soon as I do something as simple as a ls the connection got stuck at
    Code:
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection.
Both, the client and the server are behind a firewall BUT also is the old server which ran under Windows 2003.
I was thinking that was something with the firewall so I change the IP between the servers and still I have the same issue.

Any ideas about something that I missing?

What would be useful so that others don't post suggestions you have already tried/seen is to tell us what you have done to troubleshoot this.

          I tried several things

Set a range of ports 1025-65535
Set IP Range 0.0.0.0 or leave it clean the box [In FTP Firewall Support]
          Change the authentication method
          Recreating authorization access rules
Disabling & Enabling different authentication methods
Change FTP Directory browser methods (Unix & DOS)

As expected, the issue was in the firewall which is supposed to be stateful but for some reason that doesn't work again 2008 R2.
Maybe something change in this release.

Anyways, the information returns via another port [what the security guy told me] and everything works like a charm.

              Thank you

With the Windows firewall you can make rules based on the program. So whatever port it is listening on it will be allowed. You may want to look at keeping the firewall on and creating a rule for the FPT exe.

In this case was in the network. I can turn on the firewall.
