  • server crash-problem with recovery

    hello,

i have an server 2008 r2 that crash, i backup the old server using the built in backup.
i replaced the server with a new one, and when i did an full system state recovery the system won't boot.
my main problem that this server was a dc, so i need to restore the active directoy.

how can i do that on a new server 2008 r2 install on a new server?

    thank you!

    Re: server crash-problem with recovery

Unless your backup software supports bare metal recovery to dissimilar hardware, you WILL have problems. Can you get your old server back up (reinstall OS) and restore to that, then do a fresh install on the new server and make it a DC and demote the old one?

This is a very good reason why you should have a minimum of 2 DCs (even if some are virtual) on any domain.
