  • Outlook files with Remote Desktop Services

    Hello,

I am studying Remote Desktop Services on Windows 2008 R2.

When I open outlook and configure an account, are the data files kept locally in my machine or in the Remote machine?.

    Thanks in advance.

If you mean the ost (cached email) file, it will be on the machine Outlook runs on, i.e. the RDS server. IIRC the recommendation is not to use cached mode in such a scenario - actually checking https://support.office.com/en-au/art...a-e221c1ed0c1c states cached mode CANNOT be used on RDS

Files are kept on the RDS server, but Outlook is clever enough to know it's on a RDS server and it defaults to non-cached mode rather than cached in this scenario.

When building RDS servers I always use one big C: rather than an OS partition and a data partition, as the user profiles are generally the biggest space hog.
