  • trust between 2008R2 and (SBS2003 & 2008R2)

    hey there,

i have a domain which started with an SBS 2003, and later on i added a 2008 R2 [as a DC].

now, i have a new domain, and i want to have users from domain FIRST - be able to authenticate to domain SECOND.

when i try to create the trust, i get an error saying it cant be done with SBS 2003.
it doesnt matter which domain / dc i do it from.

do i need to somehow make the 2008 a "pdc" in domain FIRST?

is what im trying to do possible?

    thanks

You cannot create trusts between a SBS domain and a "regular" domain.
It's a per design choice from MS.

      hey, thanks..
the thing is, i also have a 2008 R2 dc in my domain.

why is it an SBS domain and not a 2008 domain?

      can i change it?

      thanks

You can have muliple DC's but it remains a SBS domain.
If you want to change this, you need to decommission the SBS server
