  • Win 2008 Licensing - basic network

    Hi

What licenses do I need for the following setup. We have 50 users

1 Win2008 std server Domain controller
2 Win2008 std server File servers
    1 Win2003 std print server
    1 Win2008 std SQL server

    I assume:
4 win 2008 std server licences
1 win 2003 std server license
1 Win2008 std SQL server license
50 win 2008 std user CAL
    50 SQL user Cal's

is this correct or do I need 50 CAL's for every server seperate meaning 50*4?

    kind regards

    Bert

As always, the only absolutely correct answers will come direct from Microsoft, but your solution is, in theory, correct -- 50 user CALs for Server 2008 (note R2 has different licenses from the original release) and 50 for SQL server

The server CALs will allow each user to access unlimited servers
