  • prevent the user to change / enable the proxy settings in IE 8

    Hi All,

    I've got Windows Server 2008 R2 which i don't want user to change / fill in the proxy request, how can i prevent such thing in the current environment ?

    in other server / workstation the Proxy settings was configured in GPO, i just want to restrict only this server 2008 R2.

    Can anyone help me please ?

    I don't have an Windows server 2008 by hand but I assume it's the same in Windows 7.
    Start the GPO editor and go to...
    User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Internet Explorer.
    On the right hand side scroll down until you find Disable Changing proxy settings. If you enable this, users can't change it anymore

      If that server is within domain then move this server to a OU to isolate it from other server container and apply the GPO. For this you need to have atleast windows 2003 domain functional level.

        thanks for the reply mate,

        What I did is like the following:

        1. Create TS-Locked-down OU and drag the Server here.
        2. create GPO for this OU only and enable the loopback policy.
        3. that's it.
