  • File Transfer Wizard

I am attempting to migrate to a new 2008R2 server from 2003. I ran this tool once and what I got was every user share and share point, copied to the new server into one folder. Is this all it can do or did I get something horribly wrong? If I create folders will it populate them?

I take it you don't run Active directory. What transfer tool did you use exactly, Windows Easy Transfer or other? Did you get any error messages during or after the transfer process?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am running AD. The new server has been promoted to a DC (member in an existing forest) All the user accounts are there.

I ran the File Server Migration Wizard. I didn't customise the folder locations since I thought the whole idea of the tool was that it would copy the files to identical locations and preserve SIDs etc. There were no errors.
