  • users unable to change their passwords on windows 2008/Exchange 2007

We have an Windows 2008 64 bit enviroment with Exchange 2007 installed.
Until today everyone could change their password on outlook webaccess or on their computers in our domain.

We added to new users and mailaccounts yesterday, and this morning i tested with my account to change the password and that worked.
When the users two hours later tried they got this error messages depending on where they tried to change the password:

Outlook webaccess error: The password supplied does not meet the minimum security requirements. Please contact technical support for your organization if you need help.

Outlook client: The NT Domain password could not be changed. A required action was not successful due to an unspecified error.

Windows security: Unable to update the password. The value provided for the new password does not meet the length, complexity, or history requirements of the domain.

We can change the password directly in Active Directory Users And Computers, and the users can change the passwords themself if we set users must change password at next logon.

Everytime we try to change the password from outlook webaccess, outlook or from our computers from windows security we get the error message as said earlier.

We have checked the domainpolicy and this hasn't changed from earlier. It has worked for almost two years now.
We tried to turn off the password complexity.

Hopefully someone of you have any suggestion on what we can do with this issue.

    Thanks in advance.
    Thomas B.
