  • reg query

    Hi,

WE are running a certain kind of software that needs to query the HKLM/software key on remote computers.

We have recently added win srv 2008 R2 servers.

When we try to run reg query from a remote machine, we get access is denied.

The machines are all stand alones - the ports open from the querying server to the 2008 server are TCP445 and 139 (netbios)...

Is this a port issue or a 2008 security issue?

I couldn't find anything about this....

    Thanks,

    Vered

    Re: reg query

As the computers are not part of a domain, you have an authentication problem. If domain membership is out of the question, you might have some success by using psexec.

I take it it works fine on the other machines but not on the win2008 r2. Is the remote registry service started? Also, exception on the firewall for the service and program?
