  • Windows 2008 r2 Core administration via MMC

I am trying to remotly administer a Windows 2008 r2 Core via a Windows 7 laptop. I want to use the graphical interface on the Windows 7 laptop

Dell server running Windows Server 2008 r2, Enterprise Core
    Del Laptop running Windows 7

    Configuring an IP address
    Configuring a server name
    Configuring an administrator's password

    To configure the server`s firewall
    I did

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Remote Administration" new enable=yes

Followed the steps in the Petri guide Remotely Managing Windows 2008 Server Core Settings through MMC Snap-ins.

But I think I am missing some firewall configuration beause I am never challenged for a username/password when I try to connect.

    Any suggestions

    Thank you

    Guy
