    i have server 2003
    active directory
    and i backup active
    and i want install server 2008
    after that complete installation
    i want to restore active directory
    how to do that

    Why not just do an in-place upgrade?

        You're missing my point. There's no backup\restore needed. Upgrade the current DC from W2K3 to W2K8, then you can upgrade the domain and forest to W2K8 if you like. Start here for info and instructions:

            Or add an additional DC with Windwos 2008.
            Make sure you prepared the forest/domain first before doing this.

            Personally I'm not a big fan of doing in-place upgrades. I rather start from a scratched machine
