  • Upgrade or start again?

I have just begun to set up a brand new server with 2003 in preparation to become our primary DC (to replace an old one). I have gone slowly and everything is going well. I made the new server a DC and all the accounts came over really nicely. I am at the stage of running the file migration toolkit. Now my boss says "we can get 2008 for free". This was not the case when I started three weeks ago; I had delivered quotes for 2008 but finance said no. Now an enterprise agreement has kicked in.

My question: should I start again; or update?

Thanks for your time; it's much appreciated.

    Re: Upgrade or start again?

    pksupport,

We recently faced the same situation at my work, upgrade or start from scratch. We chose the route of starting from scratch just because we felt the install would be "cleaner" then doing an upgrade. However it probably really would not have made a difference if we had gone with just doing an upgrade. Just go with what your gut is saying or what you have the time to do.

Go for a clean install. Should be worth a bit of overtime over and above an upgrade.
      1 1 was a racehorse.
      2 2 was 1 2.
      1 1 1 1 race 1 day,
      2 2 1 1 2
