  • destination host reachable on the new webserver

    greetings! trying to post in the forum while waiting for a reply from ISP tech

    created a new webserver (stand alone) with a new public ip
    modified the nameservers/ip address from my registrar pointing to zoneedit
    worked for a few days... but suddenly it is pointing to the old ip address of the webserver

    if i ping my website - www.company.com, the first line points to the old ip, but the succeeding lines points to the new ip but it says destination host unreachable

    is it because an entry on my ISP nameserver is still pointing to the old IP

    help/any idea

    Re: destination host reachable on the new webserver

    Try running a nslookup command like nslookup www.company.com and see what the results are.
    Use for this an external dns server, so it could be done like this:

    nslookup
    server=4.2.2.2
    www.company.com

    If it gives back the old address then the ISP hasn't correctly registered the newly DNS record.

      now working fine... it was indeed pointing to the old ip, the isp failed to reflect the changes on one of their nameservers. thanks
