  • ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

Running ADMT tool on server 2003 on a lan. Existing DC won't see the target DC which is a 2008 box on new domain, same lan.

How do you make the 2003 domain see the 2008 domain ?

Re: ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

I am using the latest tool from Microsoft but in reading about the latest version 3.1 there are tech notes that say it doesn't work with Server 2008 R2.

        So, I am stuck.

Re: ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

Hmmm Well I haven't seen those articles yet, but in that case I would build an temporary Windows 2008 (non R2) DC, migrate all the data you needed with ADMT.
Build an additional DC (r2) in the Windows 2008 domain and demote the temporary DC.

Edit: did you mean this article?

Re: ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

Ok, I will get another box up with Server 2008 without R2, run admt then demote the temporary box.

Do you think ADMT will see both domains?

The article I read is here:
            http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...b-9fd5ff2ab01f

All versions of ADMT are incompatible thusfar with Server 2008 R2

            Thanks,

            Tim

It should work since ADMT is compatible with windows 2008 (non R2)

Re: ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

I agree with Dumber over here. I'm also doing ADMT 3.1 testing under windows 2008 SP2. I don't think 3.1 is fully ready yet.

ADMT 3.1 download link clearly didn't mention windows 2008 R2 as a supported Operating System yet.

Re: ADMT won't recognize 2008 domain

I am currently in the middle of migrating from 2003 to 2008 (non R2) and 3.1 is working fine.
                    Thank you,
