  • Does a cross forest trust get affected if we add a win 2008 dc to a win 2003 forest

    Hi all...

This is my first post..Rly sorry if my post has any problem....
    My doubt is below:

I've a windows 2000 forest called abc.local which has two windows 2000 dcs. I also have a windows 2003 forest cdg.local that has 4 child domains all running win 2003 dcs.
Abc.local and cdg.local has external forest trust. Currently all the users are logging onto the 2003 domain cdg.local. If i add a win 2008 dc to this domain, will it effect my trust with abc.local?

    Many thnx in advance....

someone else told me recently the only way you can do a cross-forest trust is if the forests are in Windows 2003 native mode.. which, with 2000 DCs, it can't be ?

ultimately, I would not expect that adding a 2008 DC to the 2003 forest would affect this, as it should still be running in 2003 native mode....

however, I havne't tested this, and it's based on no research at all, simply a theory.
