  • Has anyone got this .MUM and this .CAT file?

    Hi,

I ran into problems with an unexpected error when trying to add roles, so I ran the System Update Readiness utility (Windows6.0-KB947821-v4-x64.msu) and in the resulting log (%SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log) it told me I was missing these two files:

    %windir%\servicing\packages\Package_for_KB955430_s erver~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.0.1.18005.mum

    and

    %windir%\servicing\packages\Package_for_KB955430~3 1bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.0.1.18005.cat

Some people on various other forums say I need to get hold of these files from a working system to replace my missing ones, but none of my virtual 08 machines have those files because they are all 32 bit - does anyone have these two files that I can have please?

    Many thanks.
    Best wishes,
    PaulH.

Download KB955430 Update for Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition.
    Please read: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955430 first.

    - Save the file: Windows6.0-KB955430-x64.msu in the folder: c:\downloads

    - Then run this batch
    Code:
    @echo off

    Set "MSUFolder=c:\downloads"

    Set "unpacked1=%MSUFolder%\unpacked1"
If not exist "%unpacked1%" MD "%unpacked1%"

    Set "unpacked2=%MSUFolder%\unpacked2"
If not exist "%unpacked2%" MD "%unpacked2%"

    expand -F:* "%MSUFolder%\Windows6.0-KB955430-x64.msu" "%unpacked1%"

    expand -F:* "%unpacked1%\Windows6.0-KB955430-x64.cab" "%unpacked2%"

    pause
Now you can copy the two files from folder: "c:\downloads\unpacked2" to the appropriate folder on the server.

Then remove the folder c:\downloads and the batch file.
