  • Password policy causes loss of domain membership.

    Very bizarre issue.

    When a user changes their domain password (due to password policy), after a while they are prompted for exchange credentials and then eventually cannot log in at all. No other domain users can log into the machine either at this point.

    We have to log into the machine locally as a local administrator. Put it in a workgroup, and then re-add it to the domain before domain users can log into it again.

    ANy ideas?

    Next time this happens, before you remove the machine from the domain...

    Try rebooting the computer.
    Try logging in as a domain admin.
    Try accessing the machine's C$ share etc over the network with domain admin credentials.

    Check the event logs for any errors.
