Backup option in server 2008 ?

  • Backup option in server 2008 ?

    I want to take backup of my windows 2008 server.Just like in windows 2003 there is a utility "ntbackup" and i normally choose "system state" so that i may take backup of all policy ,OU etc etc.

    Please guide me that in server 2008 where is the option to take backup?

      System State backup is pretty easy to do, as dumber so aptly pointed out Google is your friend.

      however my prob is that on some partitions on some of my servers I have utilities/files/etc that I dont need to back up that are just there for convenience.

      Windows backup on server 2008 does not allow for specifying folders to back up but funny enough you can specify what folders you want to restore.

      And not being able to backup to tape also sucks royally, good thing I didnt order those LTO-3 drives I wanted..yet

      I hear the next version of the OS after R2 I think will bring back that much missed functionality.
