  • DFS First Time Installation

Does anybody have a good reference on setting up Distributed File System?
We have two old Win2k file servers that we will be migrating the data over onto Win2008, but we also want to use DFS. Currently on 2003 Active Directory Services.

Any good do's and don'ts, best practices?

    Thanks.

DFS Best Practices, Do's and Don'ts

Looking to setup my first 2008 server and we want to also shut down some Win2k File Servers. We would also like to setup DFS.

Does anybody have any experiences on best practices, do's and don'ts that people care to share?

    Thanks,
    Arnie

Sorry Man. I thought it didn't go through at first, but when I noticed both of them, I could not delete one of them.

          http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...63(WS.10).aspx

Technet is a good place to start for best practices, followed by a good Google search for setup specifics.

Thanks for that article. I didn't see that one.

Basically we have a 2003 Active Directory with two Server 2000 file servers. We want to upgrade the file servers to 2008 and setup DFS.

Should the DFS management snapin reside on the new 2008 file servers?
Should anything be done with the 2003 Domain Controllers?

            Thanks
