      1. First you need a DHCP server with the appropiate DHCP Scope options enabled to allow the PC to PXE boot from your WDS server. You need the address if of your WDS server for one.

      2. Boot up your PC and press F12 or whatever to boot from the NEtwork card (older machines may need a firmware update if unable to boot)

      3. Select the capture option from the menu, login to WDS server, select which partition to image (usually C: ) and name of image and filename. Then start it going!

Re: Creating a Xp image in Deployment services

Ossian has got this one nailed. Step 6 is what you are looking for I believe. Remember to -reseal otherwise things will get funky fast. There is a sysprep for each SP of Windows XP (although I am not entirely convinced it matters that much, but its a small file and I use the appropraite one anyway).

You may also want to read about the sysprep answer file because it will save you a ton of time doing multiple loads:

            http://briandesmond.com/blog/how-to-...e-for-imaging/

This is a pretty good walk through. Ossian has got it right though. Sysprep is really all you need and his link will get the job done with no problems at all.
            Two things:
            1) If I wrote something wrong please please please let me know. I want to know ESPECIALLY if I am wrong.
            2) I have a tendency to write things that are misconstrued as being agressive or not so pleasant. That is not my intent.
