  • AD 2003 Forest with 2008 DOmain

    Gentlemen,

I have a domain running windows 2003 R2 in native mode AD.
I want to set up a child domain with windows 2008.
I will NOT be upgrading the root domain to windows 2008 AD

I have run adprep /forestprep on the root domain

Should I run adprep /domainprep on the root domain ?
Should I run adprep /gpprep on the root domain ?

    Kindly inform ?

If you don't plan to add any Win2008 DCs to the parent domain, you only need to run /forestprep on the Schema Master, and that's it.

Sorry for the OT but would you mind explaining why you don't want to prepare the root domain. Is there a specific reason? (just out of interest)
      cheers

He didn't say that. He only said he won't be adding any Win2008 DCs to it. That's what I understood.

Sure, I was just wanting to know why he said "I will NOT be upgrading the root domain" as if it would be a major issue. More out of interest than anything else and I may have taken the interference incorrectly
          cheers

            Gentlemen,
            Thankyou for the replies.

I mean to say that I won`t be adding win 2008 Dc to the root domain at this point in time.
            Thanks
